Core game mechanics explained.
Trick Shots
Landing trick shots (like a 360 spin kill with no scope) earns bonus in-game currency, shown as a stacking string of named multipliers.
Boss Fights & Island Progression
Islands unlock sequentially: defeat the boss guarding your current island to progress to the next, more dangerous one.
Gambling
A gambling minigame lets players bet in-game currency, including a roulette table and a slot machine.
Seagulls
Seagulls are an interactable hazard/creature: players can shoot them, let one carry them off, or use them in trick-shot-style kills.
Grilling & Cooking
Players can grill caught creatures and eat them, including narrative/quest uses (e.g. delivering cooked food to an NPC).
Creature Log
An in-game log of every creature caught so far, opened with the Tab key, so players can check what they still need to catch.
Melvin's Shop
A shop where players can access weapons and gear, identified by "melvin" signage carved directly into the shop building.
NPC Quests
Talking to NPCs around an island (press E) gives out quests.
Selling & the Kiosk
Players earn cash by grabbing a clam, heading to a kiosk, and holding Q to throw the clam into the storekeeper's mouth.
Radar
A handheld tool, labeled "Radar" in-game, that displays nearby points of interest as dots on a green grid.
Character Customization
Players can change their character's appearance and color before starting.
Lobby & Difficulty Settings
Players create a lobby (single-player, invite-only, or public) and choose Easy or Hard difficulty before starting.
Inventory Slots
Players gain one additional inventory/weapon slot per island reached.
Knife Sharpening
The Knife can be upgraded ("sharpened") for a cost, reported around $14.
Weapon Upgrades
Guns can be upgraded with better bullets and attachments like a laser sight.
Dynamite Farming
Throwing dynamite into a group of fish (hold Q to throw farther) can catch/kill several at once, reported as the fastest way to make money.
Boat Travel & Repair
The boat needs a Key and a Rudder to travel between islands, can get physically stuck on obstacles, and is freed by punching it.
