How to Fish: Best Ways to Make Money

Quick answer

Stack dynamite and throw it into groups of fish. It's reported as the fastest way to farm money, catching around 5 fish per explosion. Grill fish before selling for a higher value, and avoid gambling.

Step by step

  1. 1. Farm fish with dynamite

    Hold Q to throw dynamite farther, aim for a group of fish, and the explosion can net around 5 fish at once, reportedly much faster than fishing one at a time once you have dynamite unlocked.

  2. 2. Grill before you sell

    Once grilling is unlocked (see the Grilling & Cooking mechanic), cook a caught creature before selling it. Checking its value with F shows an increase after grilling.

  3. 3. Skip the gambling tables

    A gameplay video reports losing roughly 80% of the time at the gambling tables, including one case of losing $20,000 in a single session. Treat gambling as entertainment, not a money-making strategy.

  • A caught fish isn't only worth its sale value. Gameplay footage shows fish (including a grilled fish) used as stakes at the roulette table, so decide what you want from a good catch before selling it on autopilot.
